Top 10 Ways to Avoid a Bike Citation

  1. Ride at a safe speed for conditions.
  2. Have your brakes adjusted and working properly.
  3. Stop at stop signs.
  4. Ride on the right side of the roadway.
  5. Ride around bike circles counterclockwise.
  6. Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

I have received a bicycle citation... What do I do now?

How to deal with your "Fix-it" citation:

To avoid dealing with the court and/or paying a $10.00 Administration Fee, prompt attention to this citation is required. On or before the date shown with the "TW" code on the ticket you must complete the following steps:

  1. Make any corrections that are required, e.g., register the bicycle, repair the brakes, install lights/reflectors, etc.; and
  2. Contact the UCD Bicycle Officer, the Transportation and Parking Services TAPS) office, or any California Peace Officer for a "Proof of Correction" signature on your citation.
